As most of you know - I had a lot of computer problems with my old "roach" and I finally got a new computer.

Well - to begin with - I HATE shopping for computers.  Half the time you can't get the answers you want or the answers you get seem to be too easy/simple to believe.

This is the time of the year where they put many computers and laptops on sale because of back-to-school.

Best Buy had a nice sale - but after what they did to my roach (which helped it along it's road to doom) I will never go back there.  And I have some choice words for their "geek squad" or whatever they call themselves.

But I did find a nice one at Office Max.

The one thing I did not like about it - VISTA operating system.  The salesman (although they don't pay commissions for the sale of a computer) was very patient, listened to my many, many questions and was smart enough to give me the answers.  Maybe they weren't answers I wanted to hear - but he gave me the proper answers.  Too bad the one I wanted was out of stock and I had to drive over 40 miles to get the last one at another branch.

Of course - I did have questions that I asked Ron - who also steered me in the right direction.

So with a bit of confidence I decided to turn my life over to VISTA and bid a sad farewell to Windows XP.

Oh how I miss my Windows XP!

But slowly - like a fungus - VISTA is growing on me.

One thing I will never like is the new dialer I have to use with Compuserve.  And I really miss the Compuserve toolbar that I no longer get.

But I'll live.

And with this system I am not losing information.  My roach lost a lot.  I lost files, emails, folders, PATIENCE, time - you name it.

So now I am as normal as I can be (yeah - right!) and I hope that I've answered all my PM's and emails to everyone.

If not - drop me a line - things are working again - like they did before my roach got sick.

I now have a bigger screen - more memory than ever - I can watch TV and burn movies - and do so much more.

I've loaded in new software and I think I've got everything transferred from the roach to this one (THANK YOU RON! WITHOUT YOUR ADVICE I WOULD STILL BE DOING IT!)
with the exception of a couple things I cannot get off the roach.

Like my favorites from Compuserve.

But I'm moving forward - hopefully in the right direction.

And I have to admit - it's much less nerve-wracking with the new laptop.

The roach?  That little contraption worked it's heart of for me - gave me so much.  I should bronze it!  LOL

Oh and by the way - this laptop has letters on the keyboard!  (they were worn off the roach completely!)

If it's any consolation KW, Windows XP is being fased out over the next few years.  There will be no more XP in 2014, so we may as well get used to Vista.  I have just got a new computer with Vista on it.  I was having second thoughts until I tried it.  It has already grown on me, lol.
