Organic............

Well, it's been a bit too quiet and it's time to stir things up so let's talk about ORGANIC FOODS!

This subject of organic foods is so much "fun" to talk about.  Just like everything else - it's all a matter of opinion.

If you're going organic for "healthier" eating - consider this:
DROPPING SUGAR AND JUNK FOOD FROM YOUR DIET WILL MAKE A MUCH BIGGER DIFFERENCE IN YOUR HEALTH THAN EATING ALL-ORGANIC.

Let's start with free-range chickens.

A free-range chicken is a chicken that was able to stick its head out the chicken coop door!  Poor thing couldn't frolick on the farm though.

As long as chickens stop getting antibiotics and hormones two weeks before they meet their maker, they're certified as being raised without hormones or antibiotics.

And - small-farm chickens (from small farms with flocks of less than 20,000 chickens) have no regulation at all.

So you might as well choose a brand that consistently tastes good.

Also - remember that toxins like pesticides and excess hormones are stored in fat and if you cut off all the visible fat, you'll be removing a lot of them.

So let's here it - what's your opinion on "free-range" chickens???

There was an experiment done here in the UK.  The one bowl of chicken was free range, the other bowl was ordinary everyday chicken, the so called bad for you one.  When they counted the votes, there was a difference of one.  Basically, people couldn't tell the difference.  So the way I see it, why spend more on something that tastes the same as the cheaper version.

Just my humble opinion.

Organic Foods

What I don't understand is that if "organic food is grown & raised without pesticides, hormones, etc., then why is it soooo expensive & hard to come by???

I think that if you eat healthy & exercise, then you don't need to worry about organic foods!!!

There is less end product with organic.  Weeds, bugs and other things take over, reducing the yield at the end. In other words the costs for organic production are higher for less product.

I only go organic if there's nothing else.
