America has become a quick-fix society, and I find something so wonderful and satisfying about preparing meals from scratch for my family. Out of necessity, we are living on a bit of a Depression-era diet, and it is thinking of my grandmother's (and mother's) stories and recipes while I cook that allows me to put so much love and effort into these meals.
