I\'ve been making this for over 50 years - simple and delicious -
\"Chinese\" meatballs, veggies and onion bread -
I used a bit more than 1 pound ground chuck, about 1 1/c cups grated cabbage, about 1/2 cup grated onion - seasoned with Kosher salt, fresh ground black pepper, parsley, minced garlic, ground ginger, and several splashes of soy sauce - formed into meatballs.
I chose to use Minute Rice for this dish with frozen veggie blend of snap peas and broccoli, etc. to which I added leftover steamed carrots from the day before and frozen green peas. I cooked the rice in beef broth (could use chicken - but I wanted the beef flavor - still adding the butter and just a bit of salt because I added a few splashes of low-sodium soy sauce.)
Onion bread has been around our home for centuries - better than garlic bread. Just cut a thick slice of Italian or French bread and slather on your butter mixture:
softened butter (no substitutes)
Cracked black pepper
fresh minced parsley
a bit of minced garlic
A really simple to make and different dinner to enjoy!
