Preheat oven to 350* F. Lightly grease baking dish; set aside.

In large bowl, combine and mix well:

1 egg, beaten
3 slices bread, crumbled
1 onion, finely chopped
1 t. salt

1/8 t. black pepper
1/4 t. ground sage

Add and mix in gently (you don’t want a tough meatloaf!):

1 lb. lean ground beef or ground chuck

¼ lb. pork sausage

Dissolve 1 beef bouillon cube or 1 t. granules in 1 c. boiling water - add to mixture; mix gently.

Shape into loaf and place in prepared baking pan.

Top with 4 - 6 strips of raw bacon.

Place in preheated oven and bake 25 minutes; drain some of the grease off, return to oven and continue to bake for an additional 45 - 50 minutes or until done.

My Comments:
This can be served with potatoes fixed anyway you want - mashed, smashed, baked, roasted - your choice! Add a nice side salad and some homemade biscuits! Makes great sandwiches as well!
