Barbecued Brisket

6 lbs. Brisket of beef

1 large onion slices 1/2" thick

1 bay leaf

16 whole cloves

1 clove of garlic cut in 1/2 (I use more garlic)

Simmer all in a heavy covered pan for about 4 hours. Cool, then drain. Trim off fat and store in refrigerator for several hours or overnight.

Cut meat across the grain into very thin slices. Put meat slices together and stand on edge in a shallow baking dish.

Mix together:

2 Tb. brown sugar

2 Tb. dry mustard

2 C. catsup

1/4 C. Worcestershire Sauce

Pour over meat and heat in a 350F. oven for about 40 minutes, basting with the BBQ sauce.

Serve as is or on a bun.
My Comments:
This is my favorite brisket recipe that I got from a friend from church. It is so good! Debbie in Indiana
