1 tablespoon of cornstarch
1/3 cup of dark corn syrup
3 tablespoons of soy sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons of ground ginger
2 tablespoons of vinegar
1 clove garlic, crushed
2 pounds of meaty spareribs or back ribs
Salt
Pepper
To prepare marinade, combine the cornstarch, syrup, soy sauce, ginger, vinegar and garlic. Cut the spareribs into serving pieces and place in a single layer in shallow dish. Pour marinade over meat, refrigerate 4 hours or overnight. remove the spareribs from marinade, season with salt and pepper. Place in shallow baking dish, cover with aluminum foil. Bake in 350ºF. oven for 1 1/2 hours. Remove foil. Broil 5 inches from heat. Turn once and baste frequently with sauce
