1½ cups Corn Flakes
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon soda
½ cup butter or margarine
6 tablespoons packed brown sugar
enough sugar substitute (dry) to equal 6 tablespoons white sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon grated orange rind
1/3 cup chocolate chips


Heat the oven to 375°. Mound the cornflakes on wax paper and crush (but do
NOT powder). Should make about ¾ cup of crushed flakes. Sift dry ingredients
together. Cream shortening, brown sugar, and sugar substitute. Add the egg,
vanilla, and orange rind. Mix well. Stir in the flour mixture, gradually. Fold in the
chocolate chips. Gently fold in the crushed Corn Flakes. Drop by generous
teaspoons onto greased cookie sheets. Bake for 7-10 minutes, Makes 40-45
cookies. Each cookie has 35 calories.
