½ cup REAL maple syrup 4 eggs 4 thick slices of buttered toast (preferably from homemade bread or a good bakery bread!)
Pour syrup into a skillet and bring to a boil. Gently drop eggs into the pan, one at a time, and turn heat down to a simmer. Cook the eggs, basting with the syrup until the yolks are firm and the whites are opaque. Lift eggs onto toast, and pour remaining syrup over the top and serve.
