1 cup red lentils 3 1/2 cups water 1 small onion sliced thin 1/2 tsp turmeric 1 tsp. cumin seeds 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp green chilies minced
Wash the lentils add the salt and place in a pot with the water, bring the water to a boil, then turn down the heat and let the lentils simmer for 30 minutes. In an additional pan heat the onions in a little bit of oil, add the spices and green chilies.After the lentils have cooked for about 30 minutes, add the onions and spices, and cook until they are soft.
