1½ cups milk
3 Tablespoons sugar
1 whole egg
3 egg yolks
1/8 teaspoon salt

Mix everything together, and put in the top of a double boiler, over boiling water. Stir gently until thickened and the consistency of a soft pudding. Makes about 1 2/3 cups.
