6 - 8 potatoes, sliced about 1/4\" 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated 1/2 cup gruyere cheese, grated 1/2 - 3/4 cup cream salt and pepper to taste
Place a layer of potatoes in 9 x 13 pan. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with about a third of each cheese. Repeat for 2 more layers. Pour cream evenly over dish. Bake at 375 for about 45 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and top is brown.

My Comments:
Can be prepared the day before and reheated to serve. Other cheeses can be used, but stronger flavored cheeses do best. I don't peel the potatoes, except for the ends, but either way is fine.
